Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö studied with many teachers. In his autobiography he wrote:

“In short, by relying on more than eighty teachers,
I received a vast array of sacred Dharma.”

Six Main Teachers

In Great Stake to the Heart: A Song of Sadness, composed in 1942, Jamyang Khyentse invokes six of these teachers in particular: Jamyang Loter Wangpo (1847–1914), Katok Situ Chökyi Gyatso (1880–1925), Shechen Gyaltsab Gyurme Pema Namgyal (1872–1926), Adzom Drukpa (1842–1924), Dodrupchen Jigme Tenpai Nyima (1865–1926) and Gatön Ngawang Lekpa (1867–1941).

These were key figures in the lineage, who, each in their own way, provided an important link between Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö’s illustrious predecessor, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo (1820–1892), and Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö himself.
